Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the University of Chicago Medical Center data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
The University of Chicago Medical Center has reported a security breach that may have compromised the personal information of 10,322 individuals, including patients, those who otherwise received services from the medical center, and their family members.
Between January 4 and January 30, 2024, an unauthorized individual accessed the email accounts of several University of Chicago Medical Center employees. Upon learning of the breach, the medical center terminated the unauthorized access, secured the accounts and commenced an investigation with a leading cybersecurity provider.
The University of Chicago Medical Center data breach may have disclosed individuals’ first and last names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, IRS PINs, passport numbers, driver’s license or state-issued ID numbers, military identification numbers, non-U.S. national identification numbers, financial information, health insurance information and certain medical data.
