The Philadelphia Inquirer Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Philadelphia Inquirer data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
The Philadelphia Inquirer recently disclosed a data breach that may have compromised the private information of 25,549 subscribers, current and former employees, and employees’ family members enrolled in company benefit plans.
In a notice letter sent to data breach victims, the newspaper says an unauthorized party stole certain files from its computer system between May 11 and May 13, 2023. An April 2024 article published by the Inquirer also reveals that the cyberattack disrupted operations and prevented the publication from printing its normal Sunday edition following the incident.
Personal information that may have been exposed in the Philadelphia Inquirer data breach includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial information, medical information and health insurance information.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force The Philadelphia Inquirer to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
