The Mount Kisco Surgery Center LLC, operating as The Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester (ASCW), has reported a data breach impacting the personal and medical information of certain current and former employees and patients. The breach was first detected on November 3, 2023, when unusual activity was discovered in an employee's email account. A subsequent investigation revealed that unauthorized access to files within email accounts occurred between October 23, 2023 and November 3, 2023.
An analysis of the breach determined that sensitive information, including names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, dates of birth, medical records, health insurance information, and financial account data, may have been compromised. ASCW notified affected individuals via mail on June 26, 2024. A report provided to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services indicates that 22,139 people were impacted by the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester data breach.
ASCW is an outpatient surgical center in Mount Kisco, New York that is clinically affiliated with CareMount Medical, P.C., Putnam Hospital Center and various surgeons in Westchester and Putnam Counties.
