Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc., which provides medical transportation services in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, has reported a significant data breach that could impact the personal information of individuals who previously received services.
In May 2023, Superior identified unusual activity within its computer systems and acted quickly to secure them. A thorough investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed and copied certain files from the network between May 15 and May 23, 2023. Superior has since conducted a detailed review to identify what information was compromised and to whom it belonged. The types of information potentially accessed vary per individual but may include names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license or state ID numbers, financial account information, payment card details, patient records, medical information, and health insurance details.
According to a report provided to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a total of 858,238 individuals have been affected by the Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service data breach. Superior is now notifying those potentially affected.
