Specialty Networks Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Specialty Networks data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Specialty Networks, Inc. has suffered a data security incident that potentially compromised the personal and protected health information of certain current and former patients, according to a company press release dated August 15, 2024.
The incident reportedly came to light on December 18, 2023, when Specialty Networks noticed unusual activity within its network. An investigation into the Specialty Networks data breach revealed that an unauthorized entity accessed specific information within company systems on or around December 11, 2023.
A review of the impacted data was conducted, and by May 31, 2024, it was determined that personal and medical information might have been compromised. Specialty Networks coordinated with affected providers and, by late June, verified the exposed information and mailing addresses for impacted patients.
The compromised data includes sensitive information such as names, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, treatment information, diagnoses and conditions, medications, and health insurance information. On August 15, 2024, Specialty Networks, which works with independent doctors in the gastroenterology, urology and rheumatology fields, began mailing notice to impacted individuals for whom it had addresses.
The Texas Attorney General's Office also published a report of the data breach online on August 16.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Specialty Networks to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
