Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the South Texas Oncology and Hematology data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
South Texas Oncology and Hematology, PLLC (STOH) experienced a significant data breach that resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive personal information of 176,303 individuals. The breach was detected on February 15, 2024, when STOH noticed unusual activity on its network. An investigation revealed that information belonging to patients and some employees was stored on the compromised systems.
According to a notice provided to the Texas attorney general's office, the information exposed in the South Texas Oncology and Hematology data breach may have included names, addresses, Social Security Numbers, medical and health insurance information, and dates of birth.
The San Antonio cancer treatment center is now notifying affected individuals after completing its investigation in June 2024.
