Saint Louis University Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Saint Louis University data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Saint Louis University (SLU) is informing individuals about a potential breach affecting their personal information. On March 2, 2023, suspicious activity was detected in SLU employee email accounts, and the university then engaged a forensic security firm to investigate. The investigation confirmed that unauthorized access to email accounts and documents on the school's SharePoint and OneDrive platforms had occurred at various times between December 2022 and July 2023.
According to a data breach notice on SLU's website, the breach, affecting 93,612 individuals, may have involved personal information like names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account details, passport numbers, online credentials, dates of birth, health insurance information, medical information and student record information.
SLU has reportedly notified all affected individuals for whom it has a valid mailing address.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Saint Louis University to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
