Rumpke Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Rumpke data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc., the company behind Rumpke Waste & Recycling, has announced a security breach affecting individuals associated with the Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc. & Affiliates Benefits Plan. Those impacted by the incident include current and former employees, as well as their spouses and dependents who were enrolled in the benefits plan from 2015 until July 27, 2024.
On October 11, 2024, Rumpke was alerted to a dark web posting by a hacker claiming to have accessed and extracted data from the company’s IT systems. It was discovered that the unauthorized access began on July 20, 2024, through a compromised user account. The attacker was able to infiltrate parts of the network, viewing and taking specific files involving employees, their dependents, and Rumpke’s health plan, among other information.
The Rumpke data breach potentially exposed various types of information, including contact details like names, addresses, birth dates, phone numbers and emails. Additionally, the incident may have compromised health insurance details, certain medical data and health billing and payment information. Other personal data at risk includes Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses or state ID numbers, and financial account information.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Rumpke to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
