Pan-American Life Insurance Group Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the data breach impacting Pan-American Life Insurance Group.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were affected.
Pan-American Life Insurance Company (PALIC) has disclosed that it was affected by a data security incident that potentially compromised personal information belonging to individuals. The breach, which occurred between May 28 and May 31, 2023, was a result of a vulnerability in a third-party software application called MOVEit Transfer that PALIC used for file exchanges.
After conducting a thorough review of the affected files, PALIC determined that personal information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, contact information, medical and medical benefits information, subscriber numbers, certain biometric data, and financial account and credit card information, may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party.
PALIC reported the breach on December 4, 2023 and began notifying the 105,387 individuals who were affected.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Pan-American Life Insurance Group to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
