Pacific Rehabilitation Centers Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Pacific Rehabilitation Centers data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
United Backcare PS, which does business as Pacific Rehabilitation Centers, experienced a potential data breach on December 30, 2024, when an employee encountered a ransomware notice on their computer. A forensic investigation is currently underway, and though it has been confirmed that data on the healthcare provider's servers has been encrypted, it has not been determined whether any data was accessed or exported.
The data potentially compromised in the Pacific Rehabilitation Centers data breach includes a wide range of personal information belonging to patients, employees and contractors, such as names, addresses, diagnosis and treatment details, Social Security numbers, health plan numbers, banking information for direct deposit, birth dates, email addresses, driver’s license and passport numbers, citizenship status, dependent information, and electronic signatures.
Pacific Rehabilitation Centers, which provides physical therapy, pain management and other services to injured workers through offices in Everett, Puyallup and Moses Lake, Washington, reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that 18,900 individuals may have been affected by this incident.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Pacific Rehabilitation Centers to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
