Pacific Guardian Life Insurance Company, Limited has reported a data breach affecting tens of thousands of individuals. The company disclosed that on September 5, 2023, suspicious activity was detected in its email system, leading to an investigation with cybersecurity experts. It was determined that unauthorized access to data within the Pacific Guardian Life environment may have occurred on August 25, 2023.
The company confirmed on March 5, 2024 that personal information was present in the affected files. The exposed data included a range of sensitive information and may include names; Social Security numbers; financial account details; payment card information; medical information; health insurance details; dates of birth; driver's license, state ID or US alien identification numbers; taxpayer IDs; copies of marriage certificates; mother's maiden names; and electronic signatures.
A total of 167,103 individuals are reportedly impacted by the Pacific Guardian Life data breach.
