Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Otolaryngology Associates data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Otolaryngology Associates, LLC, an ear, nose and throat practice group with 13 Indiana locations, has reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services a data breach affecting 316,802 individuals.
According to a notice posted on its website, Otolaryngology Associates became aware of a criminal cyberattack on February 17, 2024. The attacker claimed to have stolen data and threatened to release it publicly. Investigations revealed that some data might have been taken, including personal information of patients and staff. The Otolaryngology Associate data breach did not involve the company's medical records system; the impacted information mainly consisted of billing records.
For some individuals, however, compromised information may include Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, email addresses, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and insurance plan numbers. Affected employees may have had bank account and payroll information exposed.
Otolaryngology Associates has notified individuals affected by the data breach and provided details on the potentially compromised information specific to each person.
Patients of Otolaryngology Associates Facial Plastics are not affected by the data breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Otolaryngology Associates to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
