Oracle Health Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of reports of an Oracle Health data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Oracle Health, which provides electronic health record systems and other software to healthcare providers including hospitals, has reportedly suffered a data breach affecting patient information.
According to a report from BleepingComputer.com, Oracle, formerly known as Cerner, has sent notice to impacted customers stating that it discovered the incident on February 20, 2025, but that the hack took place sometime after January 22.
It was revealed in the notice that an unauthorized individual gained access to legacy Cerner data migration servers and may have copied patient information. The notice, which was seen by BleepingComputer.com, states, in part:
"We are writing to inform you that, on or around February 20, 2025, we became aware of a cybersecurity event involving unauthorized access to some amount of your Cerner data that was on an old legacy server not yet migrated to the Oracle Cloud.”
BleepingComputer.com reports that Oracle is not directly notifying patients whose data may have been exposed but will help its healthcare customers identify impacted individuals so they can provide notice as necessary.
Oracle Health has not yet publicly confirmed the breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Oracle Health to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
