Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network (NRHN) has announced a data privacy incident potentially impacting the security of information related to certain current and former patients.
On May 22, 2024, Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network detected suspicious activity within its systems. An investigation revealed unauthorized access from May 13 to May 22, 2024, during which certain files and folders were potentially exfiltrated. The specific content of these files is still under review.
The investigation indicates, however, that the compromised data could include a combination of names, contact details, Social Security numbers, patient and medical record numbers, medical and treatment information, diagnosis details, health insurance data, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, and dates of birth.
Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network, which provides rehabilitation and pain management services, is in the process of identifying and notifying the affected individuals, who will receive further information via mail. According to DataBreaches.net, the incident was a ransomware attack, with data already having been leaked on the dark web. The hospital network did not confirm these reports.
The Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network data breach was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on July 19, 2024. Companies governed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) are required to report data breaches involving protected health information to the HHS secretary.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
