MNGI Digestive Health, a Minnesota gastroenterology practice, experienced a data security incident that potentially affected the personal and protected health information of 765,937 current and former patients and employees. The breach was discovered on August 25, 2023, leading MNGI to secure its network and launch an investigation with the help of independent cybersecurity experts. The investigation revealed unauthorized access had occurred on August 20, 2023, and a review identified that potentially affected data included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, passport numbers, dates of birth, medical and health insurance information, payment card details, and account numbers.
Individuals impacted by the MNGI Digestive Health data breach were notified via U.S. mail beginning on July 15, 2024.
