Mission Bank Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Mission Bank data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Mission Bank suffered a network security breach on December 2, 2024, during which an unauthorized entity accessed certain systems within its network. The compromised systems were isolated to secure the environment, and third-party forensic specialists were enlisted to investigate the extent of the unauthorized access.
On December 18, 2024, Mission Bank completed an assessment of the compromised information and found that certain types of personal information may have been exposed. This data potentially includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, driver's license or state identification numbers, passport numbers, and financial account numbers. However, not all individuals had all types of information exposed, as the breached data varied for each affected person.
The bank stated that account balances, transactions, and user credentials for mobile and online banking were not impacted.
Ransomware group RansomHub has reportedly taken responsibility for the Mission Bank data breach, claiming to have stolen 2.7 TB of data on both employees and customers of the California-based bank. Mission Bank has not verified this claim.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Mission Bank to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
