Minuteman Senior Services Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Minuteman Senior Services data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On June 1, 2022, Minuteman Senior Services, a Burlington, Massachusetts-based nonprofit helping older adults, disabled individuals and their families, detected suspicious activity involving an employee's email account. The organization launched an investigation into the incident, which revealed the account was accessed by an unauthorized individual for under 24 hours that day.
The incident was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in late July 2022. In a letter dated October 30, 2024, however, Minuteman Senior Services stated that it had only just completed its internal review and data validation process and would mail letters to those affected.
A recent online update states that the Minuteman Senior Services data breach may have exposed names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license and state ID numbers, employer IDs, financial information, digital signatures, Medicare/Medicaid numbers, medical information, health insurance information and more. Databreaches.net reports that this is not the first time Minuteman Senior Services has suffered a data breach, detailing two other incidents that also took place in 2022.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Minuteman Senior Services to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
