Mid-Columbia Center for Living Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Mid-Columbia Center for Living data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Mid-Columbia Center for Living (MCCFL), the designated behavioral health agency for Hood River, Sherman and Wasco counties in Oregon, recently announced on its website that it had experienced a “business email compromise.”
MCCFL detected suspicious activity in an employee’s email account on January 24, 2024, and a forensic investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party potentially accessed data stored therein. After completing an electronic discovery on August 1, 2024, MCCFL determined that personal information belonging to current and former clients might have been acquired.
The Mid-Columbia Center for Living data breach potentially exposed individuals’ names, addresses, patient ID numbers, medical record numbers, Social Security numbers, treating physicians, treatment information and dates, diagnoses, Medicaid numbers and health insurance details. The extent of the information compromised varied by individual, with not all affected parties having all types of data exposed.
The agency says it’s now providing written notification to all affected individuals.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Mid-Columbia Center for Living to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
