Metropolitan Council Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Metropolitan Council data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
The Metropolitan Council’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority, which serves Minnesota's Twin Cities region, experienced a data breach involving unauthorized access to employee email accounts. The unauthorized access occurred from March 27, 2024 to May 27, 2024. Following the Metropolitan Council's discovery of suspicious activity on April 12, 2024, an investigation assisted by cybersecurity experts revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed certain employee email accounts and SharePoint documents.
The compromised data potentially includes personal information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and Social Security numbers.
According to a report provided to the Maine Attorney General's Office, the Metropolitan Council data breach impacted 16,935 people.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Metropolitan Council to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
