Medusind Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Medusind data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Medusind, Inc., a revenue cycle management company providing billing support to healthcare organizations, experienced a cyber incident on December 29, 2023, which may have compromised sensitive personal information belonging to patients of its clients.
After detecting unusual activity within its IT network, Medusind initiated an investigation with a cybersecurity forensic firm. Findings suggested that a cybercriminal accessed certain files, potentially obtaining data containing health, financial and personal information.
The breached data varied among individuals but could include names, health insurance and billing details, payment information (debit/credit card numbers, bank account details), medical record numbers, medical history, prescription details, Social Security numbers, taxpayer ID numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, dates of birth and contact details.
Affected patients linked to healthcare providers served by Medusind are being alerted with letters via mail. According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office, 360,934 people are affected by the Medusind data breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Medusind to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
