Medical College of Wisconsin Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of a data breach that impacted the Medical College of Wisconsin.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were affected.
Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) has reported a data breach involving a security vulnerability in the third-party MOVEit Transfer software used by the school. MCW was notified by its vendors that unauthorized actors had exploited the vulnerability to gain access to data stored on the MOVEit server.
An investigation revealed that the exposed files contained individuals' personal information, including names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account details and medical information (such as medical record numbers, diagnosis and treatment information, provider names, lab results, prescription information and health insurance information).
The college began notifying affected individuals on November 14 and reported a few days later that 242,271 people were impacted by the data breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force the Medical College of Wisconsin to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
