As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.

Medical Billing Specialists, Inc. (MBS), which provides billing services to healthcare organizations, has reported a security incident that may have compromised personal information. On February 17, 2024, the company experienced a network disruption, and a subsequent investigation revealed unauthorized access to certain files. The investigation, completed on December 13, 2024, confirmed the presence of personal data in the impacted files. In response, Medical Billing Specialists, which also goes by MBS Select, is informing affected individuals.

Information potentially exposed in the Medical Billing Specialists data breach varies by individual but may include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, driver's license numbers, financial account information, health insurance information, and credit and debit card numbers. Exposed medical data may include medical record numbers, patient ID numbers, Medicare/Medicaid numbers, and treatment information.
