Liberty First Credit Union Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Liberty First Credit Union data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Liberty First Credit Union recently experienced a data breach that potentially involved consumers' personal information. The breach was discovered on September 17, 2024, when it was revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed a segment of the Nebraska credit union's internal network. A subsequent investigation, conducted by a forensic security firm, confirmed that certain files might have been acquired during the unauthorized access. By October 21, 2024, it was determined that these files contained personal information.
Although Liberty First Credit Union stated that the breach did not impact online banking login credentials or debit card numbers, ransomware group RansomHub reportedly posted what appeared to be customer balance sheets and account numbers on its data leak site, claiming to have stolen 254 GB of data from the credit union.
A report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office indicates that 52,496 individuals were affected by the Liberty First Credit Union data breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Liberty First Credit Union to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
