Kootenai Health Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Kootenai Health data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Kootenai Health and its subsidiaries, Kootenai Clinic, Kootenai Outpatient Surgery, and Kootenai Outpatient Imaging, recently announced a data breach affecting potentially sensitive information of 464,088 employees, employees' dependents, and patients. On March 2, 2024, unusual activity was detected, leading to the discovery of unauthorized access to the Northern Idaho healthcare network's IT systems on or around February 22, 2024. Following the breach, Kootenai Health secured its digital environment and consulted cybersecurity experts to investigate the extent of unauthorized access.
The Kootenai Health data breach may have compromised individuals' names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or government-issued ID numbers, medical record numbers, medical treatment and condition information, medical diagnoses, medication information, and health insurance information. According to a data breach notice posted on the provider's website, notices were mailed to impacted individuals on August 12, 2024.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Kootenai Health to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
