Insurance Agency Marketing Services Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Insurance Agency Marketing Services data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Between March 1 and May 3, 2024, Insurance Agency Marketing Services, Inc. (IAMS), an independent insurance brokerage agency, experienced a data breach involving unauthorized remote access to its computer systems. The intrusion resulted in the potential exposure and acquisition of sensitive personal information, including that of beneficiaries.
Upon discovering the breach, IAMS engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to assess and mitigate the situation. Their investigation, completed by July 12, 2024, aimed to understand the scope of the breach and the data involved. The company then worked to identify affected individuals and their contact information.
The compromised data included Social Security and passport numbers, driver’s license numbers, account numbers, birth dates, employer identification numbers (EINs), financial information, business email credentials, and some medical details. A report submitted to the Texas Attorney General's Office states that addresses and health insurance information may have also been exposed in the IAMS data breach.
Insurance Agency Marketing Services is sending letters to impacted individuals, detailing what specific information was exposed for each recipient.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Insurance Agency Marketing Services to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
