Earlier this summer, Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI), a musculoskeletal healthcare organization based in the Chicago area, experienced a data breach involving unauthorized access to its computer systems. Detected on July 4, 2024, the breach allowed an unauthorized third party to access the IBJI network from May 30, 2024, to July 4, 2024, acquiring certain files during this period.
A review of the affected systems revealed that the personal information of 182,670 individuals was exposed, including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical treatment or diagnosis information, and health insurance or claims information.
Individuals whose information was exposed in the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute data breach and for whom the company has contact information will receive written notice of the incident.
