As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Iannuzzi, Manetta & Co., PC, along with its subsidiary Iannuzzi & Darling L.L.C., has disclosed a cybersecurity incident that may have compromised the personal information of current and former clients. The company, specializing in tax, accounting, and auditing services, identified the breach on August 1, 2024 after its network was encrypted by unknown actors, causing a temporary shutdown of operations.
The CPA firm's IT department shut down all systems and brought in third-party forensic experts to contain and investigate the breach. The network was restored on August 8, 2024, but the full extent of the breach and information at risk was not known until mid-November 2024.
The information compromised in the Iannuzzi, Manetta & Co. data breach includes client names, addresses, driver's license numbers, Social Security numbers, health insurance policy information, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, and financial account numbers. Iannuzzi, Manetta & Co. is headquartered in Michigan but serves individuals and organizations nationwide.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office, 25,845 people are affected by the Iannuzzi, Manetta & Co. data breach.
