Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Highland Health Systems data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On July 3, 2023, Highland Health Systems detected unusual activity on its network, leading to the discovery of a data breach. In response, the company disconnected network access and commissioned a specialized cybersecurity firm to secure its systems and conduct a forensic investigation.
The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor had accessed some of Highland Health Systems' files. Further review and data mining were conducted to identify the affected individuals and the compromised information, concluding on May 24, 2024. Subsequently, on May 28, 2024, Highland Health Systems engaged a third-party notice vendor to manage mailings, call center operations, and provide identity theft protection services to those affected.
According to a notice provided to the Texas attorney general's office, the compromised information may have included names, Social Security numbers, driver's license or government-issued ID numbers, financial information, medical and health insurance information, and dates of birth.
Highland Health Systems is a health center in Anniston, Alabama that provides behavioral health services, including mental health and substance abuse treatment.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Highland Health Systems to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
