HealthEquity Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the HealthEquity data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
HealthEquity and Further by HealthEquity have identified a data security incident involving unauthorized access to participant information managed by one of their vendors. On March 25, 2024, an alert led to the discovery of a "systems anomaly," prompting an investigation that revealed unauthorized access to protected health information and personally identifiable information stored outside HealthEquity's core systems.
The HealthEquity data breach may have exposed sign-up information for the accounts and benefits administered by the company, including names, addresses, phone numbers, employee IDs, employer names, Social Security numbers, health plan information, diagnoses, prescription details and payment card information.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office, the incident may have affected 4.3 million individuals. HealthEquity stated in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it is in the process of notifying those affected.
HealthEquity Inc. is a custodian of HSAs and a third-party administrator of FSA/HRA, Commuter, COBRA and Lifestyle plans associated with employers.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force HealthEquity to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
