Group Health Cooperative Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Group Health Cooperative data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW), a nonprofit organization that provides health care services and insurance, reported that it experienced unauthorized access to its network in the early morning hours of January 25, 2024. In a data breach notice on its website, GHC-SCW stated that its investigation is ongoing and that individuals whose personal health information was impacted will be notified directly.
On April 8, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was notified that 533,809 people were affected by the Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin data breach.
Though GHC-SCW has not specified what information may have been involved, companies are required to notify the HHS if protected health information is compromised.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Group Health Cooperative to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
