Griffon Corporation Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Griffon Corporation data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On September 30, 2024, Griffon Corporation reported an unauthorized third-party intrusion into its systems that compromised the sensitive data of employees, including personnel of current and former subsidiaries and affiliates. The unauthorized access is believed to have started on June 15, 2024 and was terminated on July 21, 2024.
Personal information accessed in the Griffon Corporation data breach is reported to include names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport numbers, account numbers, and health insurance information. Griffon, which oversees operations and resource management of subsidiaries that include The AMES Companies, ClosetMaid, Clopay Building Products, and CornellCookson, is now notifying those affected via mail with letters that note "[a]ffected information may also include any non-Griffon related information you may have saved on Griffon’s file servers."
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Griffon Corporation to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
