Globe Life Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Globe Life data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Globe Life Data Breach Update – Additional 850,000 People Possibly Impacted
The 2024 Globe Life data breach that was initially believed to have impacted roughly 5,000 people is now being reported as potentially affecting an additional 850,000 customers of the life and supplemental health insurance provider.
In a January 30, 2025 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) amendment filing, Globe Life disclosed that, out of an abundance of caution, it has begun to notify and offer credit monitoring services to approximately 850,000 people whose information was also stored in the databases targeted by the unknown threat actor during the incident.
Globe Life specified in the filing that it was unable to confirm whether the perpetrator acquired information beyond that of the roughly 5,000 people initially said to have been impacted by the data breach. The company, however, chose to voluntarily provide notices to these additional customers anyway.
In the filing, the company also stated that its investigation with external advisors determined that the exposed data “did not include personally identifiable financial information” and that Globe Life did not pay the demanded extortion payment and instead notified law enforcement.
Information exposed in the Globe Life data breach, reportedly discovered by the company in June 2024, includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, and, in some instances, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, health-related data and other insurance policy information, the company said.

Globe Life Inc. has been targeted by an unknown threat actor seeking to extort money in exchange for not revealing certain sensitive information, according to an October 17, 2024 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company, which provides life and supplemental health insurance, has reportedly activated its incident response plan, engaging legal counsel and cybersecurity experts to investigate the situation.
The ongoing investigation suggests that personal data belonging to around 5,000 individuals connected to subsidiary American Income Life Insurance Company—possibly customers and potential customers—may be at risk. This data may include personal details such as names, physical and email addresses, health and policy information, and Social Security numbers, but does not appear to include financial information. Individuals affected by the Globe Life data breach will be notified, the company says, adding that "the total number of potentially impacted persons or the full scope of information possessed by the threat actor has not been fully verified."
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Globe Life to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
