Fraser Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Fraser data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Fraser Child and Family Center (Fraser), a Minnesota-based provider of mental health, rehabilitation therapy, autism, and disability services, recently identified a privacy breach that may have affected the personal information of certain individuals.
On June 2, 2024, Fraser detected suspicious activity within its network, triggering an investigation into the matter. Findings suggest that unauthorized access to or copying of certain files occurred between May 30 and June 2, 2024. The provider says it is working to identify those affected and determine their contact details.
While the specific data affected varies by individual, it may include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical information, and addresses, according to a notice posted on Fraser's website.
A report submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) states that approximately 67,000 individuals are affected by the Fraser Child and Family Center data breach. Companies covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) are required to report data breaches involving protected health information to the HHS secretary.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Fraser to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
