Foursquare Healthcare Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Foursquare Healthcare data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Foursquare Healthcare, which operates short- and long-term rehabilitation and care facilities in Texas, recently confirmed that it experienced a data security breach that impacted the personal information of both its patients and employees. The breach was caused by a ransomware incident that occurred between September 27 and September 29, 2023.
According to a November 27 notice on Foursquare's website, the information exposed in the incident varied by individual but may have included names, addresses, billing information, Social Security numbers, banking information, and clinical data related to the care received at Foursquare clinics. The company reported to the Texas attorney general's office that driver's license numbers, health insurance information and dates of birth may have also been affected.
Foursquare stated in its online notice that it has "received assurances that the extracted data has been deleted," potentially indicating that the ransom demand was met. An automated post on cybersecurity news outlet RedPacket Security's website indicates that cybercriminal group RansomHouse may have been responsible for the incident.
Foursquare said it plans to send written notice to affected individuals. According to Foursquare's report to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the breach involved the protected health information of 10,890 patients.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Foursquare Healthcare to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
