Fidelity Investments Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Fidelity Investments data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Financial services firm Fidelity Investments has reported a data security breach that occurred between August 17 and August 19, 2024, during which unauthorized access was gained to certain consumer information through newly established customer accounts. According to a report submitted to the New Hampshire attorney general, a third party submitted fraudulent requests to an internal database that contained images of documents pertaining to Fidelity customers. The breach was detected on August 19, prompting action to terminate the access and initiate an investigation with the help of external security experts. The compromised data reportedly pertains to 77,099 individuals, and Fidelity has confirmed that customers' accounts and funds were not directly accessed.
Those affected by the Fidelity Investments data breach will receive direct notice of the incident specifying the types of personal information that may have been exposed.
A report provided to the Massachusetts attorney general indicates that at least Social Security numbers, driver's licenses and financial account information were compromised.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Fidelity Investments to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
