Evening Post Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Evening Post data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Evening Post Publishing, an independently owned media company based in Charleston, South Carolina, recently revealed a data breach that may have compromised the security and confidentiality of 15,065 individuals. On March 20, 2024, the company detected suspicious activity on its network, prompting an investigation aided by third-party forensic specialists. The investigation found that the network was accessed without authorization from March 13 to March 20, 2024, during which certain files were taken by an unknown actor. These files contained sensitive personal information, such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, passport numbers, financial account details, credit card information, and driver’s license numbers.
On July 8, 2024, the company began sending notification letters to those impacted by the Evening Post Publishing data breach and for whom postal addresses were available.
Evening Post Publishing owns various South Carolina newspapers, including The Post and Courier, Aiken Standard, The Summerville Journal Scene, The Berkley Independent, The Gazette, Moultrie News, Georgetown Times, The News, and Free Times. Its other properties include King & Columbus and Evening Post Books.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Evening Post to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
