Equinox Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Equinox data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On April 29, 2024, Equinox, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Albany, New York, encountered an incident that disrupted access to some network resources. The organization, which provides substance abuse counseling and mental health, domestic violence and youth services, took steps to secure its environment. With the assistance of a cybersecurity firm, Equinox initiated an investigation to uncover the details of the incident and assess whether any data within its network was affected.
The investigation revealed that certain files might have been accessed or downloaded without authorization during the Equinox data breach, potentially exposing individuals’ personal information. The compromised data varies between individuals and could include names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or other government identification numbers, passport numbers, financial account information, health insurance details, medical treatment or diagnosis information and medication-related data.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Equinox to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
