East Valley Institute of Technology Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the East Valley Institute of Technology data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On January 9, 2024, East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) experienced a significant cyber-incident involving unauthorized access to its network, potentially compromising the records of 208,717 individuals. According to a notice posted online, the East Valley Institute of Technology data breach affects current and former students, faculty and parents.
A third-party review was conducted to assess the potential impact on sensitive data, identifying multiple categories of personal information that might have been exposed. These included student IDs, dates of birth, contact information, academic records, demographic information, Social Security numbers, medical information, biometric data, financial information, driver's license and state ID data, and other sensitive personal details. The specific data compromised varies per individual, and not all listed categories were compromised for everyone affected.
EVIT, which offers over 50 career training programs to Phoenix-area adults and East Valley high school students, is now notifying those affected, including parents of minors.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force East Valley Institute of Technology to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
