Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the East River Medical Imaging data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
East River Medical Imaging (ERMI) has begun notifying patients and employees about a security incident involving their personal information. The incident occurred between August 31 and September 20, 2023, during which time an unauthorized party gained access to the New York medical practice's network and accessed or copied certain documents.
The information contained in these documents varied by individual and, for patients, may have included names, contact information, insurance information, medical exam and procedure details, referring physician information, imaging results and Social Security numbers. For employees, the information accessed included names, contact information, financial account details, Social Security numbers, and driver's license numbers.
ERMI reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that the breach involved 605,809 patients. In a notice on its website, the practice stated that it began notifying affected patients and employees on November 22, 2023.
