Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Datamate Bookkeeping & Tax, Inc. data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Datamate Bookkeeping & Tax, Inc., which provides bookkeeping, accounting and tax services to businesses and non-profit organizations, has disclosed a recent data security incident that potentially exposed sensitive personal information.
The company detected suspicious activities on its network on December 10 of last year. It was later determined that an unauthorized third party had accessed Datamate's network from September 23 to December 10, 2023. Upon identifying the breach, Datamate enlisted a specialized third-party cybersecurity firm and IT personnel to secure the environment and conduct a forensic investigation.
The company reported in an online notice of the incident that compromised data may include names, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, driver's license or state-issued ID numbers, student ID numbers, financial account numbers, bank account numbers, health insurance policy numbers, dates of birth, and emails combined with passwords that enable access. Additionally, the Datamate Bookkeeping & Tax, Inc. data breach potentially compromised passwords required to access bank accounts for a small number of full-service clients, the notice says.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Datamate Bookkeeping & Tax, Inc. to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
