Coastal Plains Community Center Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Coastal Plains Integrated Health data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
In an incident described as "consistent with a ransomware attack," Coastal Plains Community MHMR Center, operating as Coastal Plains Community Center and Coastal Plains Integrated Health, disclosed a data breach reportedly impacting 45,357 individuals. Discovered on November 13, 2023, the breach involved unauthorized access to the center’s systems.
Investigations revealed that the hacker accessed the systems over two days, from November 12 to 13, 2023. According to a notice on the website for Coastal Plains Integrated Health, potentially compromised information includes names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, driver's licenses and government-issued IDs, passport numbers, health insurance details, medical information, financial account information, birth certificates and taxpayer identification numbers. Coastal Plains Integrated Health, which provides behavioral health services in rural South Texas, stated that this information was received in connection with employment with the company or the provision of medical services.
Notification letters to those affected by the Coastal Plains data breach were mailed on July 30, 2024.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Coastal Plains Community Center to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
