City of Hope Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the City of Hope data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
City of Hope, a cancer treatment and research organization, has announced a data breach affecting 827,149 individuals.
According to a notice posted on its website, City of Hope discovered suspicious activity on a subset of its systems on or about October 13, 2023. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed these systems and obtained copies of some files between September 19 and October 12, 2023. The files may have contained sensitive information, including names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial details, health insurance information, medical records, and unique identifiers associated with City of Hope.
While email notice of the City of Hope data breach was reportedly sent to some affected individuals in mid-December 2023, mailed letters are now being sent on a rolling basis to those whose addresses are available.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force City of Hope to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
