Carruth Compliance Consulting Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Carruth Compliance Consulting data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Carruth Compliance Consulting (CCC), which provides administrative services for 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans for public schools and non-profit organizations, recently disclosed a data breach that compromised the security of information it maintains. The breach was detected on December 21, 2024, when the operability of some computer systems was impacted by suspicious activity. A subsequent investigation revealed unauthorized access occurred between December 19 and December 26, 2024, during which time certain files were copied.
Information potentially compromised the Carruth data breach included names, Social Security numbers, financial account details, and, in some cases, driver’s license numbers, W-2 information, medical billing details (but not medical records), and tax filings.
On January 13, 2025, Carruth Compliance Consulting notified impacted entities, including Oregon school districts and educational systems whose employees' data may have been exposed.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Carruth Compliance Consulting to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
