As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Carolina Arthritis Associates, a medical clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina, experienced a computer network disruption on September 27, 2024, prompting the organization to investigate the incident with the help of cybersecurity experts. The investigation revealed that some files may have been acquired without authorization on the same day as the disruption.
By January 21, 2025, Carolina Arthritis identified that sensitive information for certain individuals had potentially been compromised. This data may include individuals’ names, dates of birth, medical treatment or procedure details, medical record numbers, medical provider names and Social Security numbers.
The Carolina Arthritis data breach reportedly compromised the personal information of 36,961 individuals.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Carolina Arthritis to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
