Cardiology Associates Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Cardiology Associates data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Cardiology Associates of Mobile, a cardiovascular physician group with locations in Alabama and Mississippi, discovered a data breach on October 22, 2024 that involved an attempted infiltration by an unauthorized third party. In response, the medical practice secured its network and initiated an investigation with the assistance of independent IT security and forensic experts.
According to a sample data breach letter mailed in early December 2024 (seen below), current and former medical providers were affected by the Cardiology Associates of Mobile data breach. The letter indicates that providers' names, birth dates, driver's license numbers, passport numbers and Social Security numbers may have been exposed.
Cardiology Associates began sending data breach notices in January 2025 indicating that current and former patients may have also been affected.
A report to the Texas Attorney General's Office indicates that addresses, medical information and health insurance details were compromised in addition to the types of data mentioned in the sample letters to providers.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Cardiology Associates to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
