Brighthouse Life Insurance Company is notifying individuals of a data breach incident during which a file containing sensitive personal information of its clients was improperly accessed due to a system defect by DXC Technology Company, one of the company's administrators. Between June 28, 2023 and July 3, 2023, DXC disclosed the file to unauthorized third party Education Benefit Consultants, LLC, also known as Aviben. Subsequently, Aviben suffered a data security incident on February 22, 2024, potentially allowing an unauthorized individual to view the Brighthouse file.
The data compromised in the Brighthouse Life Insurance Company data breach includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and annuity contract numbers of the affected individuals, who are being mailed notice of the incident.
