To address the issue, the health care system secured the environment and brought in a third-party forensic firm to investigate. The investigation concluded on August 21, 2024, revealing that unauthorized access took place in the Workday test environment from April 10 to July 31, 2024. This environment contains data on current and former employees of Bon Secours Mercy Health, Roper St. Francis Healthcare and partner organizations.
The Bon Secours Mercy Health data breach potentially affected names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, addresses, and other demographic information. No patient data was stored in the compromised Workday platform, according to the health care system’s notice to affected individuals.
