Bay Area Heart Center, located in Florida, is currently informing patients about a recent data breach that occurred with its third-party business associate, Bowden Barlow Law, P.A. The breach was the result of a cybersecurity attack.
An investigation revealed that the compromised patient information may have included names, addresses, full or partial Social Security numbers, dates of service, limited claims data, and insurance policy numbers. A total of 11,709 patients have been affected, as reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Bay Area Heart Center's website clarifies that only records that were referred for collections were impacted by the data breach.
