Aveanna Healthcare Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Aveanna Healthcare data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Aveanna Healthcare is notifying patients and employees of a data breach that took place last year and exposed certain personal and medical information.
On September 22, 2023, Aveanna Healthcare, which provides home health care, hospice care and private duty nursing services, became aware of suspicious activity associated with one of its email accounts. It was later discovered that an unauthorized individual may have gained access to the company's email environment and, consequently, files containing personal and medical information.
A review of the compromised data was completed on March 12, 2024, with notices being sent days later to affected individuals for whom Aveanna Healthcare had addresses on file.
Information exposed in the incident, according to Aveanna Healthcare's data breach notice, varies by individual and may include names, Social Security numbers, driver's license or state identification numbers, birth dates, health insurance information, treatment cost information, and Medicare and Medicaid numbers. Medical information compromised in the breach may include prescription information, treatment information, diagnoses and provider names.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Aveanna Healthcare to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
