Associated Wholesale Grocers Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Associated Wholesale Grocers data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
A cyber security incident at Associated Wholesale Grocers, a cooperative food wholesaler to independent grocery stores, has affected approximately 26,579 individuals, according to the Maine attorney general's office.
The incident was discovered around October 6, 2023, when certain systems within Associated Wholesale Grocers' network were found to be inaccessible. An investigation was launched with the help of cybersecurity experts to understand the extent of the Associated Wholesale Grocers data breach and restore the affected systems.
During the investigation, it was determined that unauthorized access to the network occurred between October 6 and October 7, 2023. Some files and folders were viewed or taken without permission during this time.
The investigation is still ongoing, but Associated Wholesale Grocers has determined information including names, Social Security numbers, and/or dates of birth may have been compromised. Efforts were made to reach out to potentially impacted individuals with confirmed contact information.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Associated Wholesale Grocers to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
